LOCAL DESIGNER SHOWCASES DESIGNS AT CATWALK EVENT

Local designs, sparkling wine and delightful mini rolls. Not my best rhyme but really, the rolls were so delightful I couldn’t continue without giving them a mention. Here I am talking about another fashion show; you’d think I’m obsessed.

What I love most is the surprise that awaits. With each show unlike another, you never know what to expect. Unfortunately, it’s a common misconception that fashion events are for younger ladies or women with full calendars from here until Christmas. Therefore, many women think it’s just not for them. Well ladies I’m here to tell you, you’re missing out.

Last weekend I celebrated spring by making my way to Ladies Night at Vanilla Salt; a gorgeous little shop within Stockland Birtinya. It houses darling homewares and (of course) fashion.

After being welcomed with a smile and a glass of sparkles, we made our way around the store enjoying all it had to offer. You could spend all day searching through the beautiful pieces, discovering more and more. The feeling within Vanilla Salt is very homely and it has little to do with the homewares as it’s very much a family affair, even the owner Robyn’s son was manning the register keeping us all entertained.

After a few quick purchases, we took our seats to enjoy the show. I have to say this is one of the most enjoyable parades I’ve had the pleasure of attending. Not only due to the MC being the lovely Carlie Wacker, guaranteed to light up any room, but it was clear the ladies on the catwalk and in the crowd were very much a part of the Vanilla Salt family.

A true sense of community filled the room as onlookers clapped in encouragement as their fashionable friends took to the runway. We saw all sorts of beautiful bodies, each different, all equally gorgeous, wearing floaty frills, fantastic florals and spotted frocks. Even Robyn’s daughter-in-law Amanda stepped up to wow us with how fabulous you can look at five months pregnant. It further showcased the versatility of their range.

LADIES NIGHT: The linen collection was showcased at the event.

Headlining, of course, was the lovely linen in every combination you could ask for. Thankfully linen is an absolute staple on the Coast, so there’s really no reason to limit yourself. Judging by what the girls walked out in, even if you have a linen-filled wardrobe you need to make room for more.

I cannot think of one person who wouldn’t have loved this show or shop. So ladies, have a peek at what’s happening around town, grab the girls and get along — Or could it be you we are cheering for on the catwalk?

Edited July 2020 - Vanilla Salt has since closed, the original store Kitchen Bath and More can be found in Caloundra
